Sand excavators

Sand excavators

I took this photograph from the same bench where for four months I managed to see incredible sunrises and sunsets, as well as people passing by and interacting with that imposing nature characteristic of South Africa.

In particular, I was always struck by these people who for some time came and went, at almost any time of the day, to extract sand from the beach to build their houses. I was observing the interaction between them and the technique not only in the excavation, but  also, the one to enter and leave with the vans from the beach.

I remember that sometimes they even came with huge cargo vehicles, but what I could always denote as a constant was that the one who drove, never excavated.
